Lessons Learned in Mexico

I learned much in Mexico, some of which is completely unrelated to Mexico.  Pictures will follow.  For now, you can check out Mike’s blog. In completely random order:

  • When you’d like someone to take your picture, ask non-senior citizens.
  • “No one appreciates my humor like me.” – Mike
  • You can’t count on me for the clutch move in Bocce ball.  It may happen, it may not, as determined by the Mayan deities.
  • All chocolate has liquor in it, but not necessarily liqueur.  Phew, close call.
  • Some people are lucky.  Some are unlucky, particularly when trying to open your hotel room, half a mile from the lobby, in a cold, wet swimsuit, with an exploding bladder.
  • Bikes can be tricky animals.  I’m happy to have my collar bone intact.
  • Parrots will bite you.
  • You won’t fall out of a zip-line harness, even upside down.  And it’s a lot more fun that way.
  • Sand in the mouth may be worst irritant in the world.  Followed closely by sand in the eye.
  • I need to learn Spanish.  In the meantime, it’s nice to be with someone who speaks the language.
  • I may not swim well, but I can stay afloat, even in deep water.
  • To determine if you qualify as smart, here’s a good rule of thumb: if you have to ask yourself that, you’re probably not.
  • Some people make money blogging.  At the very least, you can save 4% on Amazon.com purchases by becoming an affiliate and purchasing your own recommendations.
  • Photographs & videos are much better if you’re willing to disturb some to get a good picture.
  • The sunrise is beautiful.
  • The sun comes up early down here.
  • Mid-afternoon naps are essential to function well through days when I wake up to see the sunrise.
  • Dolphins:
    • Make noise through their blow hole.
    • Are/were trained by the military to identify enemy submarines.
    • Are somewhat slimy.
  • My backhand is awful, but learning tennis is still fun.
  • I’m a lucky, lucky girl to have the blessings and experiences I’ve been given.
