Diary of a Wimpy Kid

May 19, 2009

Last night I started a great new book.

Yes, it’s targeted to middle-school children.  And yes, I love it.  For those who grew up with a love for the wackiness of Wayside school, I think you’ll enjoy this quick, hilarious chronicle of the life of Greg Heffley, who decides to write a journal (not a diary) so that when he’s rich and famous, his autobiography will come in handy to the hoards who want to know if he was ALWAYS so smart and handsome.

Every day comes with a new storyline related to the woes of a kid: bullying, trying to improve your popularity ranking, finding ways to sneak video games past parents who prefer they be “active,” and much, much more.

Obviously this is no intellectually stimulating read, but so far it’s been delightfully clever.
